GED Preparation Language Arts, Reading

Tuesdays at 11:00 p.m.

GED Language Arts, Reading, aimed at the 8th grade reading level, is designed for the adult learner or alternative education student who is preparing to take the GED Language Arts, Reading test. This course addresses critical thinking skills, such as literal understanding, inferential understanding and analyzing style and structure. With the implementation of the new GED Test in January 2002, there is a greater emphasis on life application. This will be partially achieved by the inclusion of business documents and expanded synthesis questions.

Students will learn critical thinking skills and practice applying these skills to the content areas of the GED Language Arts, Reading test. These content areas include: prose, fiction, poetry, drama, and nonfiction prose. The critical thinking skills developed in this course will provide a foundation for all other tests that make up the GED.
