GED Preparation Social Studies

Fridays at 11:30 p.m.

GED Social Studies is designed to help participants prepare for and pass the GED Social Studies test. The subject areas covered in these lessons are US history and world history, geography, civics and government, and economics. The support material for this course includes focus sheets for each lesson, worksheets and answer keys for each lesson, and suggested supplemental activities.

This course also supports the development of skills that will assist students as they prepare for other parts of the GED test. These skills include analyzing,
evaluating, summarizing and applying information.

Lessons integrate the diverse disciplines that make up social studies, including history, politics, economics and geography. Practice in class includes the use of information from charts, graphs, maps, political cartoons, practical documents, government documents, photographs and sample GED style questions.
